Phantasmagoria by The Bragdon Brothers

Today we celebrate the publication of a new photo book by The Bragdon Brothers titled ‘Phantasmagoria’. The book is a limited run published by Italian publishers Eyeshot and is available for order here: Phantasmagoria.

In 2017, Gavin and Gareth Bragdon completed their BA Professional Photography degrees at Edinburgh College Photography. Together, as the Bragdon Brothers, they concentrated on street photography, creating vivid, surreal images that are rich in narrative. These images are sometimes humorous, sometimes bizarre, and frequently employ hard flash and blur techniques.

The term “Phantasmagoria” refers to a series of vivid images, whether real or imagined, often displayed in a fast-paced and surreal way, similar to the eerie visions of a dream or nightmare. This idea is central to the Bragdon Brothers’ creations, where the mundane becomes extraordinary and the familiar turns surreal. “Phantasmagoria” is a limited-edition book that challenges the viewer to question reality.

Through street photography, Gavin and Gareth Bragdon break the limits of the “decisive moment,” creating uncanny narratives that turn everyday life into hauntingly beautiful and unsettling scenes.

In a world that seems more fragmented and surreal—resembling dreams and nightmares from which we can't escape—this collection lifts the veil of reality, exposing a strange, pre-apocalyptic undertone that strongly echoes today's world. What exists between dreams and reality? Uncover it in “Phantasmagoria”.…which acutely describes their vision and output.

Eyeshot believes in the power of knowledge and education, so good news for students as there is a 20% discount on purchases, details on the link above.
